The 7th annual CenTex Beef Cattle Symposium will be held on Friday, September 24, 2015 at the Community Center located at 118 CR 234 Reagan TX.
This 9 County Agrilife Extension Program rotates through Coryell, McLennan, Bell, Bosque, Falls, Limestone, Hamilton, Johnson and Hill. The CenTex Beef Cattle Symposium was requested by local cattlemen and will become a smaller and localized version of the Beef Cattle Short Course held at Texas A&M in College Station. Speakers will address the Central Texas cattle producers’ issues and concerns. A trade show will also be a part of the program.
This year’s program will include presentations from industry leaders starting with: Dr. Steve Schultz who will cover proper herd management and vaccine protocol. The value in buying versus growing hay and quality in storage will be covered by Dr. Vanessa Corriher-Olson, Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Forage Specialist. Dr. David Anderson, a Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Economist from College Station will discuss Cattle Market Economics “where we are and where we are going.” After lunch, Dr. Paul Bauman, Texas Agrilife Extension weed specialist out of College Station will discuss noxious weeds that are becoming an increasing problem in our forage pastures and how to control them and we will wrap up the program with Dr. Thomas Hairgrove from Texas A&M hosting a Difficult Calving & Neonatal Care of calves Demonstration.
2 TDA CEU will be offered.
